Kuber, also known as Kubera or Kuvera, is a prominent figure in Hindu mythology and one of the chief deities associated with wealth, prosperity, and abundance. He is considered the Lord of Wealth and the treasurer of the gods. Kuber is often depicted as a stout, dwarf-like figure with a big belly and a pot overflowing with gold and precious gems. In Hindu scriptures, Kuber is described as the son of the sage Vishrava and the half-brother of Ravana, the antagonist in the epic Ramayana. According to the mythology, Kuber performed intense penance to please Lord Shiva, who granted him the position of the Lord of Wealth and the ruler of Alaka, a celestial city. It is believed that Kuber's abode is in the mythical Himalayan region, where he guards immense treasures and grants riches to those who worship him with devotion. Kuber is often worshipped by individuals seeking financial prosperity and material wealth. Devotees believe that by offering prayers and performing rituals dedicated to Kuber, they can attract his blessings and favor. Special prayers and ceremonies are conducted on auspicious occasions like Diwali, the festival of lights, where people seek their blessings to invite wealth and abundance into their lives. The worship of Kuber is not limited to Hinduism alone. In Buddhism, Kuber is regarded as a guardian deity and an important figure in the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism. He is known as Jambhala or Dzambhala and is considered the deity of wealth and generosity. Tibetan Buddhists believe that by practicing generosity and cultivating a compassionate mindset, they can invoke the blessings of Jambhala and attain both material and spiritual abundance.

It is worth noting that while Kuber is associated with wealth and prosperity, he is also regarded as a deity who emphasizes the ethical use of wealth. In Hindu mythology, Kuber is depicted as a benevolent deity who rewards those who use their wealth for noble purposes and generosity. The emphasis is on responsible stewardship and using wealth as a means to bring about positive change in the world.
